Axel Dörfler 9c800a96c0 This should fix the build under Dano/Zeta again, at least it works here:
* added HaikuBuildCompatibility.h to the src/build/* files that are built as
  part of the tools we need to build Haiku.
* Changed HaikuBuildCompatibility.h so that it does not define the things
  that are already in the build headers.

Axel Dörfler 73107b3121 Make the waiting on buffer exchange interruptible; sometimes the driver manages
to lock up (after some changing formats, rates, play/stops). Needs more
investigation, though.

Axel Dörfler 7ef3822c00 * No longer enable interrupts for all possible streams - they are now enabled
on a per-stream basis in hda_stream_start().
* Also, don't turn on interrupt generation in the stream before starting the
  stream.
* Create space for the DMA position update and set it in the controller, not
  yet tested.

Axel Dörfler e6fdb84b92 * If path equals "" it won't be published anymore.
* load_driver() now uses republish_driver() instead of publishing all
  devices every time. This allows published nodes to remain stable, no
  matter if the driver has been unloaded in the mean time or not.
* Offloaded driver reloading to a kernel daemon. Since this is regarded
  to happen rarely, a simple event variable will be set when something
  happened, and the daemon will then check all known drivers.
* devfs_open() will now check if the driver has to be reloaded, and will
  do so before opening the device.
* Moved republish_driver() around again.

Axel Dörfler ee0a072929 * While it was broken before, having the devices_used counter updated in
{get|put}_node() is not really what we want either; moved the maintenance
  into the open() and free_cookie() hooks.
* This should fix driver reloading on change for drivers that have been used
  before.

Axel Dörfler 629ab634f5 * Playback can now be restarted after B_MULTI_BUFFER_FORCE_STOP again; the
hda_stream::buffer_ready_sem was deleted but not recreated again. Moved its
  maintenance to hda_stream_{start|stop}().
* Replaced snooze(10) with spin(10) because that's probably what's wanted here.
* Added hda_stream::type field.
* Minor cleanup.

Axel Dörfler 4919a4dc6f Coding style cleanup, also fixed some minor bugs I found during that work:
* hda_widget_get_stream_support() did reference an out-of-bounds response for
  the stream support parameter.
* Bit 18 in the PCM support parameter is 20bit sample support, not 18bit support.
* Enabled reporting B_FMT_FLOAT capability (not tested at all yet).
* Fixed B_FMT_FLOAT size (float is only 4 bytes, not 8).
* No longer clobbers the request_* parameters in B_MULTI_GET_BUFFERS.

Axel Dörfler 351b7a2d24 * Added B_WATCH_INTERIM_STAT, and B_STAT_INTERIM_UPDATE definitions to
NodeMonitor.h.
* The latter will be set in "statFields" for interim updates when you have
  asked to get them via the former.
* BFS now uses the B_STAT_INTERIM_UPDATE flag for sending updates to actively
  written files.
* This makes us more compatible with BeOS again; if you only asked for
  B_WATCH_STAT, you will now only receive a notification if the file in
  question has been closed.
* Tracker now uses B_WATCH_INTERIM_STAT to always get all updates (ie.
  downloading a file will update its size and modification time in Tracker
  periodically during the download).
* Wether "needsTrimming" was true or not has no influence on wether or not
  the size index needs to be updated in BFS - only the actual file size is
  stored there, not the on-disk size.
* Added a TODO comment in Inode::WriteAt() that it would actually need to
  update the size index when changing the file size, not when the file has
  been closed (but that's probably too slow).

Axel Dörfler f9bbab8848 * First steps towards a more flexible workspaces view handling: the
workspaces view can now be any view in the hierarchy.
* Added private view flag kWorkspacesViewFlag that identifies such a
  view - note though, that you must not remove a view before closing or
  hiding its window for now (and that you still need to set the
  kWorkspacesWindowFlag, too).
* Fixed Workspaces check for valid screen coordinates; after a crash, it
  managed to open its window offscreen for me.
* Added a ViewLayer method FindView() that finds a view with the
  specified flags set.

Axel Dörfler a409d733e9 * Now plays a recognizable tone instead (sinus) - took me a while to figure
out that buffer exchange would return more often than it actually exchanged
  a buffer in hmulti_audio.
* Implemented setters for commands "format", and "channel".
* "play" now accepts a play mask to mute certain channels.

Axel Dörfler 631145a976 * Added new rule AddHeaderDirectoryToHaikuImage that copies header
directories. Note that you need an updated "sed" (from the Haiku
  repository) if you want to use that rule.
* The "Development" optional package now installs the Haiku headers
  needed to build stuff (ie. "os", "gnu", and "posix"). It also makes
  a symlink "be" so that we can still use the BeOS compiler with its
  builtin header paths.
* Fixed AddVariableToScript for older shells that do not support '+='.

Axel Dörfler db55a020e6 * Started implementing node monitoring in the devfs and device manager.
* Right now, only already known loaded drivers will be monitored for changes;
  their devices aren't republished, though, since that would cause a deadlock
  in the node notification mechanism (listeners are called synchronously);
  need to offload that the event handling to another thread.
* On changes of (known) driver directories, the device manager will now print
  some info to the syslog.
* Fixed republish_driver() I broke recently (would skip every other node), and
  moved it to the driver functions section of the devfs.cpp.
* Implemented currently unused unpublish_driver() function that would have to
  be called before reloading a driver.
* If a driver is in use when it's updated, we mark it, but we don't do anything
  with that info when we could.
* Minor cleanup.

Axel Dörfler 849246ba77 Improved (and tested) the advisory file locking mechanism a bit:
* our flock::l_len was inclusive, while it's exclusive (the last byte locked
  is (l_start - 1 + l_len) not just (l_start + l_len).
* F_UNLCK removes all locks of the calling process that are within the specified
  region - existing locks might also cut or divided.
* Apparently, a single team can lock the same region as often as it wants.
* advisory_locking is now using a DoublyLinkedList instead of its C counterpart.
* advisory_lock now has start + end fields, instead of offset + len, it's
  handier this way.
* This fixes bug #1791.

Axel Dörfler 350e0b20a5 * Simplified devfs_rescan_driver() since the driver hash is now based on the
name of the drivers.
* Allow driver::publish_devices() to return NULL to hint that it has no devices
  to publish anymore (ie. existing devices will be unpublished in this case).
* republish_driver() now also calls load_driver() in case the driver is not
  loaded.
* publish_device() and unpublish_node() now maintain the new
  driver_entry::devices_published field, so we always know how many devices
  a driver has now.
* Minor cleanup.

Axel Dörfler a32a4683ff * Implemented flock() semantics to the advisory locking backend. Not tested
(must also compare to BSD; I've looked at their sources, but I might have
  missed something).
* Added sys/file.h and the flock() system call.
* common_fcntl() could forget to put back the file descriptor on some error
  conditions (I guess we should introduce and use a DescriptorGetter class).
* Cleaned up fcntl.h, moved the BSD extensions S_IREAD and S_IWRITE to
  sys/stat.h where they belong, and added the missing S_IEXEC to them.
* Added some more comments.

Axel Dörfler 8708a92e8d Confirmed through testing: the X driver actually does it incorrectly,
the GTT is not part of the stolen memory. However, the BIOS popup seems
to be - removing that page solves the flickering overlay when its buffer
contained it.

Axel Dörfler 78fa3affbc * Overlay on the G33 does not work anymore in the secondary ring buffer;
we now always only use the primary ring buffer.
* Removed secondary ring buffer allocation and member fields.
* Increased size of the primary ring buffer to 65536 bytes.
* The bytes per row register is computed differently for 9xx chips.
* On G33, the overlay does not need a physical address anymore, so we
  don't pass B_APERTURE_NEED_PHYSICAL to the allocation anymore for that
  device.
* intel_free_memory() accidently added the aperture base to the allocation
  and would therefore never free any memory.
* INTEL_RING_BUFFER_SIZE_MASK was shifted one bit to the right, didn't
  cause any harm with our buffer sizes, yet, though.
* With these changes, the driver runs stable on a G33 chipset (I have not
  yet tested the hardware cursor, though, it might need some work, too).
  The only known issue left is that overlay flickers a bit if its buffer
  is partially backed up by reserved and allocated memory.

  the page offset twice.
* Actually forgot handling of allocated memory in Aperture::BindMemory().

Axel Dörfler 73bfb57abd * We're actually using the emacs keymap by default, and that had rl_rubout
instead of rl_delete for the delete key. That was one reason for bug #1495.
* The other one was that an inputrc file at /etc was ignored, the bash would
  only check for ~/.inputrc. If changed that now such that if ~/.inputrc could
  not be read, /etc/inputrc is tried.
* Both of these changes close #1495.

Axel Dörfler 1c34b9b1f5 Work in progress (might not work for you yet):
* Now uses the AGP GART module for memory management. This greatly simplifies
  the memory handling, and memory is now actually allocated on demand,
  instead of a fixed size (stolen memory is not freed, though).
* The Intel GART module should now also work with older chipsets.
* No longer remove the GTT size from the stolen memory; this appears to have
  been a mistake in the X driver. Not sure about the BIOS popup yet.
* The AGP module (in combination with the Intel GART module) is now mandatory
  to use the Intel driver.
* Removed now superfluous settings (like memory size). Only enabling/disabling
  the hardware cursor is still supported.

also used in BindMemory() and UnbindMemory() - before the latter two were
  just not working correctly for memory in the reserved region.
* The Aperture destructor now also frees (and unbinds) all still existing
  allocations.
* Aperture::fFirstMemory was not initialized.
* Added some more debug output.
* BindMemory()'s vertical to physical address translation didn't work correctly.

Axel Dörfler 3adccb1935 * More or less completely rewrote the AGP bus manager.
* It now also serves as a generic GART manager and accepts bus modules as well
  as custom modules of graphics drivers if they want to (could be used for the
  Radeon PCI GART stuff, for example).
* Implemented GART support module for Intel i965 and G33 chipsets (the other

in question as it used to find the view that is under the mouse (found
  during a short phone session with stippi :-)). This fixes bug #1714.
* The local view clipping is still not correctly maintained by the
  app_server, but that only affects the drawing now. I've added some
  commented out code that give you some visual feedback on this problem
  (ViewLayer::MarkAt()).
* Minor cleanup.

Axel Dörfler 478ebbd14a Fixed an endless loop when iterating over all hosts (when there was no
/etc/hosts file).

Axel Dörfler 1204649234 * When shrinking the stream size after a node had been removed, its
parent node could temporarily get invalid (ie. CheckNode() would
  fail).
* Since shrinking the stream was done in edge cases only, anyway, we
  will no longer do that which works around the problem. This fixes
  bug #1716.
* Minor cleanup.

Axel Dörfler 5d43cf2a84 * Added new debugger commands bfs_btree_header and bfs_btree_node that
dump a B+tree header resp. node.
* Use dprintf() when a transaction is too large instead of a panic; even
  though the file system has to revert the transaction, it's not lethal,
  and it does not corrupt your disk.

Axel Dörfler d62f743549 * Inode::_FreeStreamArray() kept one block it should have freed when the
new size fell on a block boundary.
* Removed newline from Inode::Remove() tracing.

Axel Dörfler 5f7a62cfdd * Added debugger command "transaction" and added a new "-t" option to
"block_cache" to dump info about transactions.
* Improved tracing.
* Now uses the new add_debugger_command_etc().
