Marcus Overhagen 3ab19002fe Added "suspend", "resume" and "drop" commands to kernel debugger. 
It's now possible to debug amok-running user threads by 
suspending or resuming them, as well as dropping them into 
the userland-debugger from inside kdl.

Marcus Overhagen ba8c1ff561 Make partition access saver. attempts to read or write outside of a partition 
now fail with B_BAD_VALUE. It's also no longer possible to overwrite the begin
of a partition by specifying a negative position, as negative positions are no
longer translated into 0.

Marcus Overhagen 85b3a71e69 Check the pos parameter before calling into kernel. 
This does prevent the unwanted side effect of reading or writing at the current 
file pointer position when the functions are called with a -1 position.
It's save to do this check in user space, because calling the _kern_* function
with -1 pos has the same effect as calling the normal read/write posix functions.

Marcus Overhagen d85ccec96a This fixes most audio seeking problems with AVI files, but 
still needs some work. The sync code was never executed, as
if (len < chunkSize) (len = signed, chunkSize = unsigned) 
was compiled into an unsigned compare and thus always false
for len=-1.

Marcus Overhagen f4eb963104 Added an additional check before calculating maxsize to avoid overflows. 
Ignore empty 'strn' chunks instead of treating them as an error. This
also fixes loading of the "The party at the end of the earth.divx" file.

Marcus Overhagen 0b0ecfab90 Added "const" to many parameters. 
Removed most data allocations/copying from PicturePlayer, ServerPicture now has to do this when converting coordinates.
Added additional functions to ViewLayer to copy&convert multiple BPoint, BRect, BRegion to Screen coordinates, those should be further optimized.
Removed some function call overhead.
Note: some functions of PicturePlayer don't appear to be implented by PictureDataWriter,

Marcus Overhagen 3f493ef624 Force recreation of *.a archives to avoid build errors caused by 
stale dependencies after renaming or deleting object files.
This will avoid link error like the one that was caused by the 
recent mesa update.

Marcus Overhagen cc30d340c3 When getting the memory map, ask only for 2046 bytes instead of 
2048 bytes. This should fix bugs #993 and #997.
On BeOS R5 asking for 2 bytes too much wasn't a problem, as we 
only need the first page_entry, and it didn't return any Error.

Marcus Overhagen 55a5f66c21 Made the "get_memory_map failed" error panic the kernel, to avoid random 
crashes at a later time. I observed one error at 8033a802, but the address
was allocated by the driver and should have been fully locked.

Marcus Overhagen dea33357ec Commandline tool to write a vmware vmdk header to a haiku image file (space for the header has to be reserved) 
Tested with VMware Player 1.0.3 on linux and works.

Can also be used to create a haiku.vmdk file from an existing haiku.image file:

rm haiku.vmdk
generated/objects/linux/x86/release/tools/vmdkheader/vmdkheader -h 64k -i100M haiku.vmdk
cat generated/haiku.image >>haiku.vmdk

Marcus Overhagen 2313ae7997 Modified SetValue to do nothing when the value is already set. 
This seems also be done it BeOS R5 and does remove the constant 
flickering in the MediaPlayer slider.
