finalized MMS (multihead) card support. Fixed system crashing with null pointer if 'secondary' mms card in system was used on it's non-primary heads while it's primary head was not in use. (hope this is readable :). In other words: rewrote copying ROMs for MMS cards. Kerneldriver now holds images for each card and head inside the kerneldriver independant of a card's driver being actually used or not. multihead cards can now be used as you wish: they nolonger need to be the 'primary' card in your system. hehe: 6 heads running here (two on a dualhead nvidia while 4 in a matrox mms. Test harness much in use, as all those cards still can't be used otherwise on BeOS.

Added MMS (multihead cards) support by using primary adaptors BIOS for all cards. Confirmed a G200MMS working OK on all four heads with the Be test harness application. That's one card with four G200 GPU's on it! (thanks Cale Lewis :)

added preliminary DPMS support for laptop panels (disabling/enabling backlight). Not for NV11 though, and only if no external DVI panel is connected to a supported laptop. Please note: this feature can possibly be extended for NV11 and external panels if enough feedback (logfile) gets to me. If the driver/screen nolonger works for someone please let me know as well. Bumped version to 0.66.

panel distinction type logging update: it turns out on 'std' NV11's (at least) this can't be done (card hanging afterwards). No more trouble over here now. Laptop owners are encouraged to run the driver with logging enabled and send me the logfile! NV11 laptop owners please contact me for a recompiled binary to test this: I need info to be able to activate DPMS for laptops...

updating DMA acc engine init code: part 4. Still in progress, but maybe NV47 acc runs now: It's enabled now. This turns out to be an interesting update: init code has been extended for NV20 and higher cards, giving me reason enough to probably do some more 3D testing on newer cards. (probably for nothing though :)

updated DPMS programming to take DVI panels into account for TVout modes on the same head. Enabled TVout support for all cards as long as they have a supported encoder (test-image is now shut-off). TVout support should be complete now, apart from adding support for more encoder-types. Bumped version to 0.63.

Added fifo watermark/burst-size programming for NV11 on their secondary heads. This fixes the 'vertical distortion stripes' occuring in 32bit color using secondary TVout modes: NV11 is just perfect here now :). Modified TNT2-M64 fifo watermark/burst-size programming to be executed independant of being coldstarted, which is more 'all-round'. It's upto users to confirm/deny my strong suspision this is fully OK to do (already tested on 3 cards over here). Bumped version to 0.62.

updated proposemode again: now it reflects that Desktop TVout cannot be done with G450/G550 as it's officially the case. (windows mimics it by using the acceleration engine to scale down your desktop. I'm not going to set that up for us as it's never 'perfect': try heavy acc engine use in windows (afaik): updates on TV drop to below 4x per second.) Bumped version to 0.22.

fixed a few errors in Proposemode: overriding B_BAD_VALUE is fixed, aborting with B_ERROR for dualhead modes in singlehead only colorspaces is fixed (routine continues with B_BAD_VALUE and in singlehead mode then). Bumped version to 0.21. It's refreshing to look from the Screenprefs app perspective :). Fixes done for 'unofficial prefs panel' Dualhead Setup 0.04 optimum compatibility (will be released soon).

added mode.flag 'TV_PRIMARY (1<<13)'. On dualhead cards you need to issue this flag to setup a TVout mode on the primary head: such a mode can be single- or dualhead. Note BTW that (most of) these custom flags will disappear somewhere in the future: when Haiku supports multiple graphics cards.

added/rewrote TVout enabling/disabling routines: moved CRTC specific stuff to the respective files. Driver now has support for TVout head switching, although it's not completed yet (switch mode will likely mess up as that's not taken into account yet :). On singlehead cards TVout is on the one and only head, on dualhead cards TVout defaults to the secondary head (use dualhead setupthere ). Tested OK on NV11 in dualhead clone and stretch mode.

confirmed NVDAC2_TV_SETUP register to exist (tested NV11). Just saw 'real' (as much as is possible with beos currently :) dualhead running on a GF2MX400 using TVmode on the second head (as it has no VGA connector). Confirmed NV11 having a hardcursor on the second head, and having the capability to switch the overlay engine back and forth. Now I still have to update the TVout drivercode for real for this.

rewrote DPMS programming (this time the 'setting' part). Now the new nv.setting 'vga_on_tv' is respected: wich means that VGA output will be turned off by default when you enable TVout on a head (still only head1 supported for TVout). You can preset it to be kept enabled via that setting, although that is considered a tweak which 'might' destroy your (old) screen (offcially non-compatible timing on VGA). It's a handy option to have for singlehead cards though. NOTE: fixed DMA acceleration fault introduced when I added the vga_on_tv option initially (it over-wrote the dma setting!). DMA acc should now be working 'normally' again. Bumped driver to version 0.59. Note: We have a confirmed working Nvidia Geforce 7800 GT PCIe (ID 0x0092). Acceleration is disabled yet on them though.
