completely removed concurrent 3D/overlay workaround number 2 (executing a 3D command in engine init). Overlay and fifo-assignment-switching on-the-fly / 3D are working OK indeed. The dangerous-RAM-area patch completely solves that problem.

fixed overlay playback and accelerantion engine crashes if all is right: it turns out the last piece of cardRAM may not be accessed by software. This looks to be a hardware bug, size of dangerous RAM depends on pre/post NV40 architecture, bug exists for both FIFO channel assignment on the fly, and DMA command buffer existing in cardRAM. If there are still users outthere using PIO acceleration and 3D they have a good chance of having working concurrent overlay as well, as the fifo-assignment bug turns up with PIO acc as well. Note: the bugfix is still in test: confirmed on TNT1 only for now.

reverting to version 16074, removing the partly setup coldstart panel hack 'solution' which isn't going to work this way: I took a wrong turn here. Turns out this should be done via temporary files containing the hack info. Don't know yet if I'll do that though (real panel coldstart is the best solution anyway).

added hack to save registerprogramming for a few registers that has been done by the cardBIOS: things that we don't have coldstart support for yet. This is nessesary if the driver is started/stopped more than once per 'system boot': programming done by the VGA BIOS has a tendency to get overwritten by driver-use. In progress: accelerant doesn't use it yet.

Should work on all cards the driver supports. Note: overlay support is now broken: 2D engine freezes at some point. Will fix that asap (I hope)...

adding DMA acc function SCREEN_TO_SCREEN_SCALED_FILTERED_BLIT (in progress). The videonode turns out to be a nice playground to test it with, so I can set it up. Also it looks like I'm going to need it because I can't get a B_YCbCr422 connection going on R5 or dano (negotiation seems to fail).

finalized MMS (multihead) card support. Fixed system crashing with null pointer if 'secondary' mms card in system was used on it's non-primary heads while it's primary head was not in use. (hope this is readable :). In other words: rewrote copying ROMs for MMS cards. Kerneldriver now holds images for each card and head inside the kerneldriver independant of a card's driver being actually used or not. multihead cards can now be used as you wish: they nolonger need to be the 'primary' card in your system. hehe: 6 heads running here (two on a dualhead nvidia while 4 in a matrox mms. Test harness much in use, as all those cards still can't be used otherwise on BeOS.

Added MMS (multihead cards) support by using primary adaptors BIOS for all cards. Confirmed a G200MMS working OK on all four heads with the Be test harness application. That's one card with four G200 GPU's on it! (thanks Cale Lewis :)
